My resolution to concentrate on….
Me. Very narcissistic, it may seem — I mean, on the surface. In fact, it’s more about my art. All humans have their passion. And all humans end up having to set that passion aside for what’s called LIFE. Now, I mean no disrespect, because I wouldn’t trade where I am (or moreover, who I am) for the world. However, the day-in and day-out of being a wife, mother, daughter, chef, chauffeur, coach, housekeeper, dog-walker, employee, etc…totally overshadows that burn within me; that burn called creativity.
So my resolution this year, is to do something—anything, each day that has to do with my passion, my artwork. There are days I sure-as-hell do not feel like sketching or painting, but ten minutes tidying up in my studio would go a long way. Or, indirectly, helping one of my kids with a school project would sharpen the creativity skills. I also find writing in a journal is a good place to “stash” my ideas that may eventually become visual ones.
I also bought a book entitled “The Daily Book of Art”: 365 Readings that teach, inspire and entertain.” I am counting on this written word to take me places in 2012. If you’re interested in this book, you can find it at www.walterfoster.com.
Let’s hope 2012 will be an inspirational, creative year for us all.
